Week 4 student work

Wow, another batch of awesome images. I loved seeing the different ways you approached the 'People' assignment, B&W, close-up, use of zoom, posed portrait, background/setting, and more. You are demonstrating that you are incorporating many essential habits and techniques into your photography, keeping your camera with you so you can capture the moment when is occurs, rule-of-thirds, paying attention the the background, unusual point-of-view, cropping to create the desired effect, and more.

We had 4 students absent this week, so I will post some video links to help teach the depth-of-field concept that we learned about in the week 4 class. I have also posted the week 4 class notes on the right side of the blog.

Monday Feb 21 room change

Hi folks

A quick reminder that we will be having class on Monday Feb. 21 at the Strong school however, there is a room change. Because they are re-waxing the floor in the art room, we will be using Yogi Smith’s middle school math room. I will put a sign up to direct you. See you at 6 p.m.!

Week 3 Rule-Of-Thirds Student Images

Once again, you created some amazing images!

I apologize for taking so long to post these. I had having difficulty figuring out (remembering) exactly who submitted each image. With the help of about 4 different students, I believe I have one picture from each of you. It would be helpful if you included your first name in the file name of each image for next week's assignment. Please contact me immediately if I have missed you in this collection! Have a great week, keep your camera with you and keep using it!  -Mit

Week 3 Homework:

• Google a question or two about your photo editing software and/camera “how do I…”  You might also give youtube.com a try.

• Rule-of-Thirds (ROT) homework, this week move away from the ‘Bulls Eye’ method of centering the subject in the middle of viewfinder. Place the point of interest in one of the 4 hot-spots off to the sides of the center. Bring 2 good examples of ROT on your thumb drive to class on Monday night.
These videos may help you further understand the ROT.

• Strive for these 3 rules: 1. in focus, 2. meets the assignment 3. Interesting

Week 2 Student Self Portraits

Wow! You created some awesome self portraits this week. This it one assignment that I would like you to keep working on for the duration of the class. If/when you get something worth sharing, just include it with your images for the weekly critique.
